Most of my work, in both pen on paper and digital ink is focused on portraiture and renderings of the human form.

Most of the faces I draw are from memory or imagination, but on occasion I'll sketch from a model, whether that be a friend in the studio or a stranger on the street.

Over the years I've experimented in various styles but I always come back to an obsession with the contours and lines of the human face.

The irony in my art is that I tend toward being a recluse, a loner, a hermit. And yet my art is fueled by a real human need to connect.

Not all art is political but the best art has something to say.

Donald Trump has been one of the most consequential political figures in American history. Unlike past political revolutions his is one built on mass wealth redistribution to the very top and almost incomprehensible incompetence.

Kopper Book Illustrations

For my 2015 sci-fi novel KOPPER I created an original book cover and a dozen illustrations throughout.


All illustrations were done by hand, in ink on paper, with only minimal touchups in Photoshop.

Many of the illustrations focus on feelings of isolation and anxiety as though the world is closing in.
